President Asif Ali Zardari has underscored the enduring strategic relationship between Pakistan and China, calling for further enhancement in trade, economy, agriculture, people-to-people exchanges, and cultural ties. He emphasized the need for continued collaboration to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
During a meeting with Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), and his delegation at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday, the President reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), emphasizing its strategic significance and Pakistan’s dedication to ensuring the timely completion of all CPEC projects.
Highlighting the pivotal role of the Gwadar Port, President Zardari emphasized its potential to boost regional connectivity and enhance the efficiency of goods transportation to China. He also proposed collaborative efforts in training projects to equip the workforce with the necessary skills aligned with Chinese demand.
Chairman Luo Zhaohui briefed the President on CIDCA’s contributions to Pakistan’s socio-economic development, particularly in the health and education sectors. He stressed the importance of promoting tourism and agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
Expressing condolences over the recent terrorist attack on Chinese workers in Besham, President Zardari assured full efforts to ensure the safety of Chinese workers and investors in Pakistan. Chairman Luo reiterated the resilience of bilateral relations against attempts by adversaries to undermine them.
The President thanked the Government of China for its support to Pakistan’s economic development and appreciated CIDCA’s efforts in various rehabilitation and reconstruction projects across Pakistan.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Dr. Jahanzeb Khan, and senior officials from both countries.
