Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the prospects of the second phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC-II), emphasizing its potential for joint ventures between the private sectors of Pakistan and China. He praised CPEC for its significant contribution to Pakistan’s socio-economic development and expressed optimism that CPEC-II would further drive industrial, scientific, and green development in the country.
During a meeting with a delegation from the Chinese International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), led by Chairman Luo Zhaohui, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored China’s unwavering support to Pakistan, especially during challenging times such as the 2022 floods. The prime minister witnessed the signing of four Memorandums of Understanding focusing on flood rehabilitation, information and communication technologies, Juncao Technology, and China-Pakistan Development Cooperation Planning (2024-2028), signaling deeper cooperation between the two countries.
Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited Australian companies and experts to share their expertise with Pakistani counterparts, during a meeting with Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins. He emphasized enhancing cooperation in agriculture, livestock, mining, and other sectors, highlighting the friendly relations between Pakistan and Australia. The high commissioner reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan and expressed interest in bolstering sports and cultural cooperation, particularly in cricket and hockey.
The prime minister also commended the bravery of Pakistani security guards during recent stabbing attacks in Sydney, where their valiant efforts saved lives. He acknowledged the significant contribution of the Pakistani diaspora in Australia and discussed upcoming bilateral engagements, including visits of senior Australian defense officials to Pakistan.
