Government Initiates Hiring of Technical Advisers. The government of Pakistan is set to hire technical experts and consultancy firms across key ministries to bolster expertise and facilitate economic development. Led by Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, the initiative aims to recruit experts from various sectors to provide fresh perspectives and address challenges hindering foreign investment and economic growth.
The recruitment model, proposed by Dr. Ishrat Hussain, seeks to introduce technical advisers in ministries, independent of federal secretaries, to enhance decision-making efficiency. The first phase will focus on ministries of energy and finance, with plans to expand to other technical ministries subsequently.
These technical advisers, placed above secretaries, will assist in areas such as mineral exploration, LNG business, and policy formulation. The move comes amidst efforts to streamline financial frameworks, attract investment, and address challenges in sectors like mineral, oil, and gas. The government aims to expedite the hiring process within 45-50 days to ensure operational readiness by the start of the next fiscal year.
Additionally, collaboration with business groups is expected to leverage specialized expertise for pro bono support. The initiative reflects a proactive approach to enhance governance and stimulate economic development in Pakistan.
