MQM Calls for Federal Aid in Sindh Security Crisis
Members of the MQM in the National Assembly expressed concern over rising street crimes in Sindh, urging federal intervention. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar’s response, attributing the issue to provincial jurisdiction, faced opposition protest. Despite assurances of federal assistance in countering terrorism, the MQM insisted on the federal government’s role in addressing Sindh’s security challenges.
Meanwhile, PTI members protested against their colleagues’ inclusion in exit control and no-fly lists, accusing the government of political victimization. Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah struggled to maintain order as lawmakers voiced their grievances.
The absence of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi further fueled discontent among both treasury and opposition members. The National Assembly session witnessed heated exchanges as parties clashed over jurisdictional responsibilities and allegations of political targeting. With security and political tensions running high, federal intervention remains a contentious issue in addressing Sindh’s security crisis.
